artist statement
my practice is guided by intuition and balanced through structure and discipline, informed by a restrained palette and minimalist approach
i work across a range of materials and processes, where repeated forms and gestures
shift subtly over time
each work develops through a measured interplay of application and removal, with each stage guiding the next. decisions are approached with deliberation and a close awareness of material
the outcome is shaped through restraint,
with composition defined by what is held, pared back and retained, between fragility and resolve
— perfection is not pursued
the materials remember.
the residue remains.
about
natasha naomi (b. 1977) is a dutch–danish artist
based in wellington, new zealand
creativity has long been central to her practice. early work began with pencil portraiture, where she developed an appreciation for the subtleties of
human nature, contour, detail and shadow
in 2011, this evolved into street photography, refining her sensitivity to tonal nuance and the quiet weight of presence. this cultivated way of seeing continues to inform her current work
memory and lived experience set the foundation for her practice, though their origins remain
intentionally undisclosed
