natasha naomi (b. 1977) is a contemporary artist based in wellington, new zealand
creativity has long been fundamental to her overall practice. her early work began with pencil portraiture, where drawing became a way to closely observe the subtleties of human nature. in 2010, this way of seeing was carried into photography,
refining her observation of tonal variation and presence. this continues to inform her
current practice
she works across linen and fine art paper using acrylic, ink, and charcoal. through layering and controlled removal, surfaces hold accumulation, erosion and residue,
where time and material
quietly coexist
her current work reflects subtle shifts and accumulated tensions, emerging through a measured and considered process. memory and lived experience are present,
though their deeper origins remain
intentionally undisclosed
